Volunteer and Event Coordinator

Summary

International Focus is looking for a motivated, creative individual to join our team as a part-time Volunteer and Event Coordinator. The position involves organizing and leading our volunteer base and coordinating or helping coordinate a variety of organizational events including delegation visits, speaker series, gatherings, and the International Festival of Raleigh.

Our ideal candidate has at least five years’ experience in event and volunteer/personnel management or at least two years’ experience and a bachelor’s degree related to hospitality/tourism/human management.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assess and meet the organization’s needs through the recruitment, placement, management, and retention of volunteers
  • Create and manage volunteer appreciation
  • Manage internship programs for international exchange and festival projects
  • Promote volunteering through recruitment and publicity strategies and campaigns
  • Communicate and coordinate with staff to meet program and volunteer needs
  • Plan and execute small events and coordinate festival production
  • Coordinate with vendors, exhibitors, and stakeholders
  • Plan and execute festival venues and activities
  • Coordinate event marketing and outreach
  • Organize and maintain volunteer and event databases
  • Establish volunteer and event policies and procedures
  • Build and adhere to event budgets
  • Track and evaluate key event performance areas for improvement

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to prioritize and work under strict deadlines
  • Capable of working with internal and external teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Enjoy working as part of a team

Hours and Compensation

  • 25-30 hours a week depending on workload
  • Flexible schedule and work environment
  • $28, 000 - $38, 000/year based on qualifications and experience
  • Later full-time employment is a possibility for the right candidate
