Open Call for NC/Local Professionals for the Citizen Diplomacy Series
Do you love what you do? Do you want to share your professional experiences both domestically and abroad with others? Are you passionate about building diplomatic bridges on a grassroots level?
International Focus is always looking for new speakers and discussants for the Citizen Diplomacy Series. Speakers and participants from all walks of professional life, private and public, are encouraged to volunteer. During the Citizen Diplomacy Series, participants will engage with foreign delegates on a thematic topic sharing professional insights, personal experiences, and information and impressions about their home and host countries. We hope to both intellectually stimulate and build bridges between the US and the world through spirited discussions of shared interests.
These are not lectures; we encourage a fun and dynamic discussion between the volunteers and delegation. In fact, a bit of fun games were involved in our last series event. The Belarusian delegation awarded some lucky and attentive North Carolinians souvenirs from their home country after a rousing Belarusian primer and trivia contest!
The Citizen Diplomacy series is but one of the many opportunities open to volunteers and members of International Focus to serve as a cultural diplomat and build relationships on a local and international scale. Sponsoring a booth at the annual International Festival is an excellent opportunity to expose you or your company to the diverse population that calls our state home. International Focus members can network with young and up-and-coming national leaders in both the private and public sectors by moderating or hosting visits to your place of work through the International Visitor Leadership Program, Community Connections, or Open World programs. On a more personal level, households can accommodate international visitors during their time in the Triangle through a homestay or host a dinner through International Focus’s signature Home Hospitality program.
